DAYTONA BEACH -- Hours after the Egyptian mob’s 9/11 anniversary assault on our embassy in Cairo, a well-armed terrorist team attacked the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, setting the building afire and killing American Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other US diplomats.

Al-Qaeda is fond of simultaneous terrorists attacks but, other than timing, there are too many differences between the two incidents to suggest to me that they are linked. In Cairo the assault was mounted by a large unarmed mob, possibly egged on by the Muslim Brotherhood or their Salafist Islamic rivals.

Romney wins convincingly in Illinois

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- With a convincing win in Tuesday's Illinois primary, Mitt Romney further extended his delegate lead over his principal rival, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. Coming in the wake of Romney's total victory in Puerto Rico last Sunday, which added another 20 delegates to his total, Romney is looking like a lock for the Republican nomination.

Obama's power grab pushing the country away from what Founding Fathers established for democracy

Far more than any president in my lifetime, Barack Obama has used the executive order to bypass or contravene the legislative authority of Congress.

Our President has been traveling the byroads on his Throw America Under the Bus Tour, in hot pursuit of anti-Republican class warfare all the while denying that he is campaigning so that he can rip off the public by forcing the taxpayers to pick up the cost of the trip.

Boston bombing suspect No. 1 / Headline SurferBoston bombing Suspect No. 2 / Headline SurferDAYTONA BEACH -- The Boston Bombers, brothers Tamerlan and Djokhar Tsaraev, lived up to their violent Chechen heritage, even though neither was raised in Chechnya. Having spent their childhoods in Kyrghistan and the United States, it is not clear if either had ever even been to Chechnya. Yet they proved themselves as gratuitously violent as any of their kinsmen.

YouTube / The Tsaraev brothers are representative of Muslim extremism from a region of the world that hates Russians and Americans alike.

What's good for Daytona International Speedway is good for Volusia County

DAYTONA BEACH -- I went to Tallahassee last week to testify before a State Senate committee on behalf of Bill 1394 which would provide certain tax advantages and abatements to the Daytona International Speedway after the Speedway invests $250 million of its own money in expansions and improvements. Next week I plan to do the same before a committee of the State Legislature.

The Democratic budget charade in Washington continues unabated

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Last week the Democrat-controlled Senate passed its first budget resolution in four years. Also there is breaking news of a major snow and ice storm which has blocked all the roads in Hell.

Obama and sequester bluff: The sky is not falling

Well, Barackula signed the sequester into law, and last time I looked, the sky was still up there. I couldn’t even find any cracks in it.

Sequestration: A flood of lies

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Everyone knows that Barack Obama is a constant congenital liar. But since his inauguration diatribe and the masterpiece of mendacity that was his State of the Union address, I have given up trying to isolate individual untruths. Now I try, with decreasing success, to find something he says which is true.

Slick Hilly a rose with thorns

DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Over the past couple of weeks we have witnessed a classic example of Hillary Clinton’s normal level of operation. She fails at a major task, takes all of the responsibility but none of the blame, and emerges smelling like a rose.
