Deltona man identified as victim of shotgun slaying near DeLand

DELAND -- Sheriff's investigators have identified Tuesday night's shotgun slaying victim as 25-year-old Antwan Harris of Deltona.
As reported first by Headline Surfer, investigators are dealing with Volusia County's first reported murder of 2013, where the victim was dropped off late Tuesday at Florida Hospital Hospital-DeLand where he died less than an 40 minutes later, an agency spokesman said.

Oak Hill property owner reports break-in of shed on premesis
OAK HILL -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office took a report of burglary at 106 West Loop involving the break-in of a shed on the property sometime between Oct. 13 and Wednesday when th report was made.
The property owner didn't have an accounting as to whether anything was actually taken, a Sheriff's deputy noted.

Daytona cops: Possible meth lab chemical spill has stretch of Atlantic Avenue on beachside closed to traffic

DAYTONA BEACH -- Daytona Beach cops are currently investigating a suspicious incident where a meth lab may have been located in the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue on the beachside.
The incident began to unfold around 7 a.m. after emergency workers were summoned to 900 S Atlantic Avenue (near apartment 4) to investigate a "chemical smell."
"Officers arrived on scene and located what appeared to be an active meth lab," Daytona Beach police Detective John Creamer said.

Joseph Diflumera Jr. is charged with one count of possession of sexual performance by a child and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on $2,500 bond.DAYTONA BEACH -- A 54-year-old Daytona Beach man is facing child pornography charges after sex crimes investigators discovered illegal images on his computer, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
The images were uncovered during a routine investigation into illegal on-line activity.
Joseph Diflumera, Jr. had been under investigation for some time after agents received information that he had been downloading child pornography from the Internet, Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said.

59-year-old woman found murdered in home near DeLand; person of interest questioned and released

DELAND -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office has launched a murder investigation after a 59-year-old woman was found dead in her home near DeLand late Friday night with obvious signs of fresh trauma to her body.
Sheriff's deputies interviewed a "person of interest" in the killing who knew the victim, but he was released, agency spokesman Gary Davidson said this evening.
Deputies were dispatched to the victim's residence at 88 Melodie Lane just north of DeLand after receiving a 9-1-1 call at 10:35 p.m. Friday reporting that Margaret Gee had been found unresponsive and not breathing.

DELTONA -- Volusia County Sheriff's deputies are continuing to search for 28-year-old Thomas Fey, whom they have named as a suspect in the 5 p.m. Sunday stabbings of his parents in the Deltona home they all shared at 3215 Hyder Ave.
The father, Thomas Fey, 60, and the mother, Theresa Fey, 54, were listed early this morning in stable condition at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where each was admitted for multiple stab wounds. Sheriff's officials did not go into greater detail on the stab wounds except to say the father underwent emergency surgery.

VCSO: Suspect driver and vehicle located this morning, but no charges yet
DELTONA -- An apparent drug deal in Deltona went horribly wrong late Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old man who was dragged down the street by a fleeing motorist, an official with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
The victim was identified as Tristan De Joy, who witnesses reported walking late Sunday afternoon to the end of Sonnet Court, the same Deltona road where he lives. Next, a pickup truck was spotted driving to the end of the street, where De Joy was.
