Lois H. Powers, age 90, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at home. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Powers came to this area in 1975 from Dearborn, Michigan.
She earned her bachelor and master of arts degrees from the University of Michigan, and taught for fifteen years in the Dearborn school system. She was a member of the PEO and a former member of the Smyrna Yacht Club.
Survivors include a son, C. Dennis Kinzel of New Smyrna Beach; 2 step-sons, William Powers of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Robert (Carol) Powers of Florence, Alabama; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Association, 378 Center Pointe Circle, Suite 1280, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
