Authors to discuss 'Ditch of Dreams' at NSB Library on Sept. 18
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Authors Steven Noll and David Tegeder will give an illustrated talk about their book, “Ditch of Dreams: The Cross Florida Barge Canal and the Struggle for Florida’s Future,” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library.
Noll is a senior history lecturer at the University of Florida, and Tegeder is an associate professor of history at Santa Fe College, Gainesville. Their book recounts the 200-year struggle to build a canal across Florida and the successful efforts of environmentalists to stop it in 1971.
A book-signing will follow their talk, and light refreshments will be served.
