Obituary: Barbara (Bobbye) Curry Moore

Barbara (Bobbye) Curry Moore passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 in Winter Haven, FL, after a brief illness.

Bobbye, a fourth generation Floridian, was born September 21, 1937 in Manatee, FL, and spent her early childhood in Manatee and Tampa, FL. Her family moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL in 1946 where she attended school.
Bobbye lived briefly in Tallahassee and Miami where her four children were born. While in Miami, she worked as a church secretary and kindergarten teacher at North Palm Baptist Church. She returned to New Smyrna Beach to raise her children and worked as an insurance agent prior to working in the business office and oncology department at Bert Fish Hospital, where she retired in 1999 after 32 years of service.
In retirement she enjoyed crafts, sewing, wood carving, and doing things with her children and her church family at Servants’ Quarters Fellowship. Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Bob” W. Blackketter and Elizabeth “Lib” Blackketter.
She is survived by her four children, Malcolm “Rusty” Moore, in Louisiana, Stacy Ann Ramirez, in Winter Haven, Robert Anthony “Tony” Moore, in Stayton, OR, Karen Lyn DeVoe and son-in-law Robert DeVoe, in Winter Haven; three grandchildren, Tara, Ashley and Justin; and one great grandchild, Elijah; her brother, Robert D. Blackketter and his wife Nancy in Bellingham, WA; two nephews, Robert Scott Blackketter, in Melbourne, Australia, and Christopher Blackketter, in Redding, CA.
A memorial service was held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30th at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in Bobbye’s name to Servants’ Quarters Fellowship, 1429 Sabal Palm Drive, Edgewater, FL 32132.
