OAK HILL -- This little city, famous for Mosquito Lagoon and more recently the demise of its police force, has a connection to Super Bowl lore. It's the winter home of Miami Dolphins great Larry Csonka.

Csonka was not available for comment, but NSBNews.net spoke to a couple of city officials who have run into him here and there about the Super Bowl VIII MVP.

City Commissioner Doug Gibson met him once.

"I was backing out of my driveway and he was on a bicycle when I almost ran him over," Gibson said with a laugh. "He has a winter home here but he's rarely around. He lives up in Alaska where he has a TV fishing show, but I think it's pretty neat that he's here in Oak Hill sometimes. I remember when I was a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol and the Dolphins went undefeated."

Csonka was the most valuable player in the ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns in Miami's 24-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, running for 145 yards and scoring two touchdowns, capping a perfect season for the Dolphins with no losses. The Dolphins won the previous season's Super Bowl VII with a 14-7 win over the Washington Redskins. Csonka was later voted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Oak Hill Vice Mayor Linda Hyatt, a hunting enthusiast, said it's "great that a famous Super Bowl player has a winter home in our fair city."

As for who Hyatt is rooting for in Super Bowl XLVI, she said, "Go Giants!"
