NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Everyone loves a parade, especially a Christmas one and what better place than here in New Smyrna Beach where several thousand people lined the streets from the beachside to the mainland downtown.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – The jet stream from Canada has dipped so low they’ll be ice skating on Flagler Avenue. Ok, maybe not the actual frozen stuff, but there will be artificial ice for everyone to glide around on.

City Commissioner Jim Hathaway, shown in the smaller photo, ran the meeting in place of the mayor who was at a conference.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Dr. Arlen Stauffer, a physician and chairman of the NSB Balloon Fest, was chosen at tonight's City Commission meeting as New Smyrna Beach's nominee the Volusia Leaque of Cities' citizen of the year award.

Dorothy Lawler Patterson, 95, who in her life resided in Norristown, PA, Elkton, MD, and Coral Gables and New Smyrna Beach, FL, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at home in New Smyrna Beach. She was married for 60 years to Harry F. Patterson III, who passed away in 2000, and leaves three children, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
