OAK HILL -- The City Commission will discuss the possibility of establishing a budget task force, look at drafting a public records policy and consider an ordinance regulating yard sales.
The commission is also expected to go over specific terms for salary levels for the position of police chief with the recent elevation of Acting Police Chief Diane Young to permanent police chief.
This alligator was captured and killed near the Edgewater City Hall on Riverside Drive on Friday.
EDGEWATER -- A 10-foot alligator was captured and killed by a gaming hunter Friday afternoon after it was spotted near the entrance to the Edgewater City Hall and where narby children play, city officials said.
A Living Nativity scene on Canal Street Friday night brought into focus the true mean of the holiday season. Participants were from St. Paul’s Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach. "Christmas on Canal" was a veritable wonderland for countless families looking for bargains at the start of the holiday shopping season.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – Festive holiday carols echoed up and down Canal Street Friday night as merchants kicked off Christmas on Canal with a gala Christmas tree lighting ceremony and holiday cheer. And the holiday cheer continued well into Saturday with kiddie rides and other festive activities designed to make "Christmas on Canal" a positive shopping experience for families.
David Steven Duke, 40, of Deltona, died August 31 at home. Mr. Duke, who came to this area in 2005 from Atlanta, Georgia, was a chef, and enjoyed fishing, reading, and hanging out with friends.
