NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- A 53-year-old woman told police she was bitten by a stray cat in the 2000 block of South Atlantic Avenue sometime between late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Wal-Mart at the NSB Regional Shopping Center on State Road 44 wasn't the only happening place in New Smyrna Beach for Black Friday holiday shoppers. Canal Street and Flagler Avenue merchants showcased bargains too. Bright lights and a window of a Christmas wonderland at the Pink Flamingo at Petals, 201 Canal Street, beckoned shoppers Friday night.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Merchants on Canal Street saw a busy day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, having hoped for a better-than-usual influx of shoppers from a year ago when the economy was bottoming out.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary E. Smith Morton, age 85, who died Saturday at South Seminole Hospital, Longwood, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach, with The Reverend John S. Murray, officiating.
